August 18, 2016
I hope you have enjoyed your summer vacation. I am so excited to begin my first year at BTE, and I look forward to meeting all of our BTE students. The staff is also delighted that your children will be coming to Bluebonnet Trail Elementary for the 2016-2017 school year, and we look forward to your partnership in the coming school year.
Please note that all returning BTE students (including PreK and Kindergarten students) must re-register online by visiting WWW.Manorisd.net
On the website, hold the mouse over the Parent & Students tab and click on Registration/Enrollment. On the right hand column click on Returning Student Enrollment 2016-2017. This will direct you to a page with a link. Click the link to complete the online enrollment.
Once you have completed the online registration and submitted your information, the following documentation must be provided to the school:
Student’s immunization record
Proof of address/utility bill (electric, water, gas bill) dated within the last 30 days, lease or contract
*For PreK Registration only* Income info (recent check stubs for everyone in the household for the last 30 days)
*For PreK Registration only* Other qualifying documents (military ID, military info if parent is deceased or on active duty or Child Protective Services letter)
First Day of School – Arrival and Dismissal Schedule
The first day of school is Monday, August 22nd. Please note the following information regarding arrival and dismissal.

6:45 a.m. – 7:15 a.m. Breakfast is served. Staff members will ensure that students arriving on late buses eat breakfast.
6:45 a.m. – 7:15 a.m. All students wait for teachers to pick them up in their designated class location in the cafeteria after eating breakfast.
7:15 a.m. Teachers walk their classes to their rooms for arrival procedures.
7:25 a.m. The first bell rings.
7:35 a.m. The tardy bell rings. Any student not seated in their classroom at 7:35 a.m. will receive a tardy slip in the main office before entering the classroom.

On the first day of school (August 22nd), students will be greeted by staff members or parent volunteers. They’ll ensure all bus students wear an identification tag which displays the bus number they rode in the morning. Students will be assisted as necessary to the cafeteria for breakfast, and then to their designated supervised waiting area.
Due to the size of our school population, we encourage students to ride the bus whenever possible. If your child does not ride the bus in the morning, please drop your child off at the front of the school building in the drive by the doors. Do not drop your child off on Farmhaven Road, the street in front of the school. In the past, children have been endangered while exiting the car or crossing Farmhaven Road. Please do not pass cars in the driveway or on the street as this may also endanger children exiting vehicles. We have 1-2 staff members on duty each day to help unload students. From the driveway, students may unload anywhere along the sidewalk in front of the building. It is not necessary to wait until you are in front of the school doors to unload. Should your child need extra time in getting out of the car, please park in one of the available spaces in the front of the school and walk your child into the building. Cross the driveway at the crosswalk, and wait for a staff member to motion you across. Visitor parking is available in front and on either end of the building.
Changes to Pick-Up Arrangements
To ensure your child’s safety, you must submit a written request if your child’s afternoon arrangements are different from the regular routine. These requests should be delivered immediately to your child’s teacher upon arrival. Parents needing to pick up students for medical appointments or other reasons must report to the school office to sign them out. (If possible, try to schedule appointments outside of school hours in order to maximize your child’s class time.) When arriving to pick up students during the day, parents should park in one of the visitor parking spaces in front of or on either end of the school. Never park in the driveway; it is a fire lane. Only buses may use the driveway to pick up students in the afternoon. Car riders are dismissed at the 200 wing awning (this is the end of the school closest to Harris Branch Parkway).
Visiting for Breakfast or Lunch
Parents are always welcome to join their children for breakfast or lunch (during your child’s designated lunch time). Just stop by the office, sign-in, show your identification, and wear a visitor’s pass. Parents should not try meet with teachers after breakfast or lunch, because teachers will be busy supervising their classes.
In an effort to maintain effective communication with you, we will supply each student with a Bluebonnet Trail Elementary School folder. The folder will be sent home with your child each Tuesday and should be returned on Wednesday. Important school information such as school newsletters and important classroom information (like graded papers, field trip information, etc.) will be sent home in the weekly folder. Students in grades 3-5 will be provided with a personal planner. In the event the planner becomes lost or damaged, replacements are available in the school office for $5.00 each.
